Description
This 1964 Pontiac Tempest Custom Coupe looks mostly stock on the outside, but inside is a 468-cu.in. Pontiac stroker engine, cooling upgrades, dual exhaust, a Turbo Hydra-Matic 400 transmission, a 12-bolt rear axle, power front disc/rear drum brakes, and tubular front control arms. The seller says that the engine alone cost “approximately $10,000.” He lifted the body off of the frame to replace the mounts, added power steering, and installed a ton of other new components.
“I have spent over $25,000 just on parts for this car, and that does not include my labor,” he mentions. “Other than the body and most of the interior, everything has been replaced and/or upgraded and is either a Pontiac part or meant to be on a Pontiac. The car has passed Massachusetts State Inspection, and it has less than a thousand miles on it since finishing the build.”
The seller states that this vehicle will be sold on a clean Massachusetts title in his name. “I doubt there are many original moving parts on this 1964 Pontiac Tempest Custom at this point, as I’ve replaced almost everything under the hood and under the car,” he concludes.
