This 1983 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser 4x4 was fully restored in South or Central America about two years ago, the selling dealer says, and he recently took in in trade. It appears the vehicle was used only lightly, with perhaps 1,700 km (about 1,050 miles) added since it was titled in Florida about a year ago. As seen in photos, the vehicle appears exceptionally clean inside, outside, and underneath. The restoration upgraded this FJ to give a more modern, comfortable driving experience with air conditioning, power steering, and a stereo system. A winch adds off-road capability. The six-cylinder powertrain and part-time four-wheel drive were left stock, preserving the vehicle’s original character. This Japan-built Toyota 1983 FJ40 Land Cruiser was functionally the same as the one that was last sold in the U.S. that year, with the main difference being lack of factory-installed heat in Equatorial markets that did not require it.
